Physical Ecucation and Fitness
Keeping our parents fully informed about the academic path we have chosen to take for our students is a high priority of the Marcus garvey School. The youngest of pre-school students (generally age 2) is accepted into the program as soon as the parent(s) has determined that the child is fully potty trained, socially mature, and exhibits the willingness to follow the instructions of a teacher. Thereafter, it is the responsibility of the school to monitor the child’s progress to make sure that all three requirements are being met as time proceeds. We believe that the earlier a child begins to function in a structured academic setting (age 2), the more success he or she willexperience in the years to come. Some of the teaching materials (40%) for this age group have been created by our teachers and curriculum director. The materials have been designed or chosen to address each student’s individualize capacity for learning, for it is the philosophy of the Marcus Garvey School that a group of students should not be taught from a “one size fits all” perspective. |
